0-20 Years - "Naturally Good Treatment"
Studies have shown that chiropractic or laser therapy can often be of massive clinical benefit at any stage of life. Some of the specific conditions seen and effectively treated early in life are colic, asthma, posture and gait imbalances, scoliosis, insomnia/restlessness, sinusitis/allergies and sports related injuries. We are also well equipped to deal with juvenile obesity and fitness issues.
More and more parents are seeking chiropractic care for their children.
Infant Care
Clinical experience is showing that many spinal problems seen in adults began as early as birth. Even so called “natural” birthing methods can stress an infant’s spine and developing nerve system. The resulting irritation to the nerve system caused by spinal misalignments can be the cause of many newborn health complaints. Colic, breathing problems, nursing difficulties, sleep disturbances, allergic reactions and chronic infections can often be traced to nerve system stress. Since significant spinal trauma can occur at birth, many parents have their newborns checked right away.
As the infant grows, learning to hold up the head, sit, crawl and walk are all activities that affect spinal alignment and are important times to have a child checked by a Doctor of Chiropractic.
Children
As the child begins to participate in regular childhood activities like skating or
riding a bike, small yet sometimes significant spinal misalignments called
subluxations may occur. If neglected, the injuries during this period of rapid
growth may lead to more serious problems later in life.
Subtle trauma through childhood can impact the future development of the spine and has the potential to lead to nervous system function. One of the most common reasons parents seek out care for their child is trauma from an injury of some sort. Unresolved injury can impact the quality of future growth and impair health or function. The bones of the spine called the vertebrae; house and protect the spinal cord. The spinal cord is an extension of the brain and carries vital information from the brain to all the body parts and back to the brain again. Even subtle injuries can over time impact the nerves ability to transmit this vital information. As the nervous system is an integral component of all aspects of body function, other aspects of health can be affected as a result of impaired spinal function.
Doctors of Chiropractic receive significant training in the diagnosis and treatment of spine related joint and soft tissue injuries as they affect the growing spine. All of our doctors at “Care” have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of the growing spine. Chiropractic adjusting procedures are modified to fit a child’s size, weight, and unique spinal conditions. They are both gentle and specific to the child’s developing spinal structures. Most parents report that their children enjoy their chiropractic adjustments.
