WHAT IS

ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of Chinese Medicine. Eastern medicine is based on treating the body as a whole and on understanding that health must be restored rather than disease removed. It has been used for thousands of years in China and other eastern countries to help restore, promote and maintain good health. Acupuncture works by stimulating key points on the body, using needles to restore natural balance.

DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?

For most patients, minimal to no pain is felt upon needling, due to the extreme slenderness of the needles and the skill of the acupuncture practitioner. Some people compare the sensation to that of a mosquito bite, if felt at all. With the use of disposable needles, the risk of any serious side-effects or infections is virtually non-existent. Most patients find Acupuncture treatments extremely relaxing and often fall asleep during their treatments. Clinically, eighty to ninety percent of patients respond well to acupuncture with noticeable improvement within the first few sessions.
